When should I start planning international pet travel?

Start as soon as you know a move is possible. There is no single lead time for every route. Some destinations require a long preparation sequence; Japan’s non-designated-region pathway includes a 180-day wait after the antibody-test blood sample. Begin with a record review before choosing a firm date.

What are Pet Commute International’s two transport options?

Personally Coordinated Transport brings together planning, documentation guidance, airline and airport arrangements, and pickup or delivery as needed, without a Pet Commute escort. White Glove Assisted Transport adds a dedicated travel professional to accompany your pet. The team reviews which method is suitable for the animal and route.

Compare both transport options
Does an escort change the destination’s entry requirements?

An escort provides travel support. The pet must still meet the applicable entry and airline requirements. Owner travel dates, written authorization and whether ownership changes can affect the movement category. For example, Great Britain has extra rules when the pet arrives more than five days before or after its owner.

Is a vaccination record the same as an international health certificate?

No. Vaccination records support the review, while the destination determines the travel certificate and any government endorsement needed. For U.S. departures requiring USDA endorsement, the export certificate must be issued by a USDA-accredited veterinarian.

Can I request transport for more than one pet?

Yes. Include the number of animals in your quote request and provide details for each one. Species, size, records, containers and movement category need individual review. Do not assume that pets traveling together have identical preparation or acceptance requirements.

Will my pet need quarantine?

That depends on the destination and the pet’s preparation and eligibility. Australia’s Group 3 dog guide includes post-arrival quarantine, with the shorter stay subject to eligibility. Review the actual destination pathway before making arrival or pickup plans.

Can my pet travel in the cabin internationally?

In-cabin travel must be suitable for your pet and accepted on the specific airline and route. An assisted transport request does not by itself confirm cabin acceptance. Share your pet’s details and carrier measurements so the team can review the available method before arrangements are confirmed.

How much does international pet transportation cost?

The quote depends on the route, pet details, travel method, preparation and pickup or delivery needs. Share the full journey and ask which items are included or paid separately. We provide a route-specific quote rather than a single worldwide price.

Do I need to plan for my dog’s return to the United States?

Yes. CDC’s entry requirements also apply to returning dogs. Review the dog’s country history during the six months before re-entry and where it was vaccinated. The outbound paperwork is not automatically the return paperwork.

Where should I verify the latest requirements?

Start with the destination’s veterinary or import authority and, for U.S. departures, USDA APHIS. Our guides link to official sources and show when those sources were checked. Use the current official requirements with your veterinarian and coordinator when planning the actual journey.
